Twitterpated

As I leaned in for a closer look at the one flower bud on this plant I caught sight of these two.
I snapped a few photos and then left them to it, I felt a bit like sneaky paparazzi invading their privacy.

and if you are not familiar with the term twitterpated heres an explanation

Blue Banded Bee

I have seen these Bee's around here before but never managed to get a pic. The way they fly is different to regular Bee's and the way they behave on plants also different. There is usually just one amongst the common bee's here and the stripes were always identified by me as white not Blue. Yesterday I saw this one clearly as blue and was able to get a good enough photo to establish its identity.

Its a native Blue banded bee.
From what I read in my identity investigation, this is a male clearly displaying 5 Blue bands.

European Wasp

Not a good one to have in the garden but they are nonetheless there, feeding in this tree with the bee's and flies. At first I believed it to be some kind of bee but my investigation to discover what they were led to me calling the hotline, sending an email and having it positively identified as European Wasp (Vespula germanica)
Nest in unknown, not obvious location.

and a closer look.

Dragonfly

Far from where I would expect to see him taking a rest in the lavender.
Taken on a hot overcast day in Early Feb.
A single shot and perfect unedited photo!

This Red one stopped by the Algae pond in the afternoon.

Webs

Never a day goes by when I walk in the garden that I fail to be ensnared in some way.
As yuccky and amusing as it is it the crazy arm flailing that ensues I still feel a bit sad when I consider some tiny spider started up in that one tree created a line of web walked down to the ground and up the other tree, to secure it and weaved some magic, that I have just destroyed.

I wonder if I'll ever get used to walking through webs?
